The future’s bright at Edinburgh University

Ringtail Lighting, an established leading UK manufacturer, designer and supplier of professional LED emergency and amenity lighting equipment has been selected to work with Edinburgh Napier University to assist in the reduction of their carbon footprint.  No stranger to working with this great academic institution, Ringtail supplied the new contemporary ceiling mounted exit signage (X-MPC) to the University in 2016.

This time the focus was on providing a lighting solution for the hallways and staircases throughout the University.  There was a requirement for the light fittings to have microwave sensors so that they dim when they do not sense movement.  Ringtail recommended its low power consumption X-XLP high lumen output luminaire. The light fittings also come with additional trims and a coloured halo to suit different environments and enhance individuality.  Specified with DALI control gear these contemporary light fittings are controlled via the university’s DALI system for easy monitoring and control.

Ringtail went through a rigorous selection process to win this contract as they were up against other lighting manufacturers, however, with 20 years’ experience in the manufacture of emergency lighting, Ringtail was selected for this project.  Committed to quality and innovation, Ringtail uses cutting edge technology to develop creative emergency lighting solutions, designed to the latest lighting industry standards.

Managing Director, David Pilkington comments, “As a lighting manufacturer we take immense pride in what we do.  Ringtail is able to offer effective and bespoke products which meet our customers’ specific design criteria.  In this case, our client, Edinburgh Napier University wanted an energy efficient system to greatly reduce their energy bills, energy usage and ultimately their carbon footprint.  The lighting solution we proposed met all of the specified objectives whilst maintaining the illumination and functionality required.  We are delighted to have been chosen for this exciting project.”
